A great time was had by all last Saturday, at the Westonbirt volunteers’ summer party.
Luckily the weather was kind to us, and everyone had the choice of sitting under cover with the band, or outside in the sunshine

Thank you for having us!
30s, 40s, 50s….jazz, swing….upbeat for dancing….. romantic and smoochy…we do it all!

Thank you for having us!
A great time was had by all last night in Later@Resound, including us! So wonderful to be entertaining an audience again, we’ve really missed it.
In fact, it was such a success, we’ve been asked back next year! I fancy a Valentine’s Day ball, how about you?
I’ve compiled some of the pics and videos here, enjoy!
It’s eight whole weeks since I’ve been to a room 10 rehearsal, due to Christmas and other stuff, so I was thrilled to be back with the gang this evening!
We’ve realised we’ve only eight more rehearsals before our gig in Resound, Bristol, and we have lots to go over, both vocal numbers and instrumentals – it’s nearly two years since our last gig, due to the pandemic! So we’re working hard, polishing up our sound again.
Oh, and the microphone on a radiator? Well, we have the windows open for ventilation, and my mic comes out of my car boot a bit chilly….you wouldn’t want me to have cold paws now, would you?!
A few weeks ago Kathy joined us, playing alto sax, and she’s had a very steep yet successful learning curve! She’s doing brilliantly, and fits in so well, it’s like she’s always been one of us!
And more recently, Pete the double bassist has joined too. He’s still in the process of learning all our tunes, but he’s fitting in fantastically well too, it’s so lovely to hear such a great, smooth bass sound again.
We’re so lucky to have found two such great musicians, and such lovely people too!
So we’ll soon be ready to start gigging again (no pressure, you two!)
I wonder when we’ll play in public again? Fingers crossed it won’t be too long – we want to show off our new musicians!
Four years ago, room 10 got together for the first time…a very different group of people to who we are now! But with about half of us stalwarts from the start, I think I can still confidently say we’re still the same room 10 band!
Here are a few pics from the last four years – and now we’re back to our full complement of nine, and rehearsing madly, I’m sure we’ll soon have more performance photos to add to these. 😁
Onward and upward!
And finally, in those halcyon Room 10 days….
Well, I know we’re late to that party, but too many of us were unavailable last week, so it had to be this week’s rehearsal instead!
We all agreed that it was so good to have us all there – it makes such a difference to our playing (who knew?!)
Surely it can’t be long till we’re out there, entertaining people again?! I really hope not.
Our fab bassist Richard is sadly leaving us, so we’re looking for a new bass player, preferably an upright, double bass.
Message me if you’re interested, want to know more, or know someone who could be a good match for each other!
We probably won’t invite anyone along for a tryout until we can all play together again – this ‘rule of six’ is so difficult…and such a pain!
We rehearse each Wednesday evening in Yate, so probably someone in the Bristol/South Glos area would be best, although I drive each week from Cardiff, and it only takes about an hour!
Here we are again, rehearsing back indoors again – not in room 10, we have a bigger space now, for social distancing.
Although the others were back indoors for a short while in the autumn, it’s my first time singing indoors with room 10 for about 15 months, due to the English and Welsh rules not coinciding.
Adam brought along a CO2 meter, to check we’re safe – it has to read under 800….and it read 450! It’s 400 outdoors! Result!
It all went very well, I think. Hard to sound tight with no drums or bass tonight, but we did our best!
I’m back, singing with (some of) the band! Only six people outdoors, so far. But we’re getting there! This is the first time I’d sung with them in nearly eight months, so as the the song goes “I found a thrill…”
…well, 6 at a time
Six members of the band managed to meet in the car park of our rehearsal rooms for an outdoor practice, the first in months!
Hopefully it’ll get better and better now – no going back!
