Recruiting!

Our fab bassist Richard is sadly leaving us, so we’re looking for a new bass player, preferably an upright, double bass.

Message me if you’re interested, want to know more, or know someone who could be a good match for each other!

We probably won’t invite anyone along for a tryout until we can all play together again – this ‘rule of six’ is so difficult…and such a pain!

We rehearse each Wednesday evening in Yate, so probably someone in the Bristol/South Glos area would be best, although I drive each week from Cardiff, and it only takes about an hour!

Six Indoors Again

Here we are again, rehearsing back indoors again – not in room 10, we have a bigger space now, for social distancing.

Well spread out!

Although the others were back indoors for a short while in the autumn, it’s my first time singing indoors with room 10 for about 15 months, due to the English and Welsh rules not coinciding.

Adam brought along a CO2 meter, to check we’re safe – it has to read under 800….and it read 450! It’s 400 outdoors! Result!

Helen
Dan
Pat (me!)

It all went very well, I think. Hard to sound tight with no drums or bass tonight, but we did our best!

At Last!

I’m back, singing with (some of) the band! Only six people outdoors, so far. But we’re getting there! This is the first time I’d sung with them in nearly eight months, so as the the song goes “I found a thrill…”

I edited it after the vocal because there are solos for the instruments who weren’t there!

Then the rain came…then hailstones…! But we persevered! It’ll take more that that to stop a room 10 rehearsal..

Back together….

…well, 6 at a time

Adam takes a break from the keyboard to take a selfie!
Ready to start playing.

Six members of the band managed to meet in the car park of our rehearsal rooms for an outdoor practice, the first in months!

Hopefully it’ll get better and better now – no going back!

We’re working!

If you were disappointed today, on Valentine’s Day, this’ll cheer you up!

Merry Christmas from room 10!

It’s been a tough year for many, but we’ve still been meeting every week without fail…mostly on line, but occasionally in person, for a proper rehearsal…. when the tiers allowed!

Looking forward to 2021….and all those celebratory parties! And we thought 1999 was a biggie…..

Meanwhile, here’s a little something we’ve put together, enjoy!

Merry Christmas from room 10 xx

At Last!

No…not that one…! But at last I’ve managed to edit Straighten up and Fly right and get it more or less glued together. This is probably my favourite yet! Such a fun song.

Fingers crossed that we can play together in room 10 next week, and start gigging again in the spring, but until then, here’s what we’ve been up to recently. Enjoy!

Rule of six….

A breezy rehearsal!

This morning was my last rehearsal with (part of) room 10, before my local Cardiff lockdown starts tomorrow evening – I’ll miss you guys!

It was breezy, chilly, but so much fun! I’ve joined up a few little snippets – not the best sound, of course, as three band members had to stay away… you really notice their absence, don’t you?!

But as I said….”we’re back in town!”

Look out, ol’ Patty’s back!

At Last I’m back too! First time in a Blue Moon…six months. S’Wonderful to be singing with the band again, only six of us today, but still an absolute joy…and They Can’t Take That Away From Me…!

We’re back!!

Most of the band, just missing Adam (keyboards) and me, Pat (vocals) met up for the first time in nearly six months, for a rehearsal in the car park at Ridgewood, where we normally meet up – room 10 isn’t big enough for social distancing.

I think they sound great, bearing in mind we’ve not played together in such a long time. Simon (drums) said it was like we’d never been apart.

Of course, there are drawbacks to playing outdoors…! (Look our for Dan (trombone) and his fancy footwork!)

I’ll be there too next week, weather permitting! I can’t wait….
